GBrain compared

GBrain remembers. Chat with Work goes and looks.

GBrain is Garry Tan's open-source memory for the agent you already use: your notes in Markdown, indexed in Postgres. Chat with Work is the assistant: it searches your tools live when you ask, makes changes with your approval, and keeps going on our servers.

Dimension GBrain Chat with Work
What it is An open-source (MIT) memory layer for AI agents. Not an assistant on its own. An AI assistant for teams, connected to your work tools.
How it knows things From what you import into it: notes, meetings, mail, enriched each night into a knowledge graph. It asks your tools live when you ask. No index of your company.
Changes in your tools None: it writes to its own pages. Drafts, posts, files, issues, and more, each with your approval.
Where it runs Your computer, with embedded Postgres, or your own Postgres. Our servers in Germany, or yours.
A team Personal, or a shared company brain with scoped access; its README notes weak isolation between callers. Organizations, roles, and projects. Each person's connected accounts and tool results stay their own.
Models The embedding and model providers you configure, which then receive your text. Gemini, GPT, Claude, and Qwen, all processed in the EU. Self-hosted: any provider, or local models.
Setup Install with Bun, set up the database and provider keys, and connect an agent. Sign up and connect a tool.
Price Free, plus provider costs and hosting. Free to start, with plans for one person or a team.

FAQ

Before choosing.

What's the difference between GBrain and Chat with Work?

GBrain is a memory for an agent you already use: it turns notes you import into a knowledge graph the agent searches. Chat with Work is the assistant itself: it searches your work tools live when you ask, makes changes with your approval, and keeps going on our servers.

Can I use GBrain with Chat with Work?

If you run GBrain's MCP server where Chat with Work can reach it, add it under Settings as one of your MCP servers, and the assistant can search your brain beside your other tools.

Does Chat with Work build an index of my notes?

No. It asks your tools when you ask. Text it reads is cached, encrypted, and cleared after 30 days unused; chats stay until you delete them.

Ask your tools, live.

Connect one tool and ask. No index to build.
