Google Drive integration

Chat with Google Drive.

Ask the kind of questions you'd ask a teammate who actually knows where everything lives. Chat with Work searches Drive when you ask, opens the files that look relevant, and comes back with the answer and the source attached.

Google Drive

Read-only, live today

It searches like a person would.

No background indexing. No giant pre-built knowledge base. Chat with Work pokes at Drive the same way you would: search, skim the candidates, open the ones that look right, then read.

  1. Step 1

    You ask a question.

Plain English. No filename, no folder, no advanced search syntax.

  2. Step 2

    It searches Drive.

Behind the scenes, it queries the Drive search API and gets a handful of candidates back — file name, type, last modified, and a short snippet around your keywords.

  3. Step 3

    It opens the right ones.

The model picks the files that look promising and reads them — the whole document if it's short, the relevant section if it's long. Everything is converted to text first.

  4. Step 4

You get an answer with the source.

The reply names the files it leaned on and links straight to them in Drive. Open the doc, read the original, decide for yourself.

Each search returns metadata plus a one-line snippet to the model, so the conversation stays compact. The model only spends tokens reading a file when that file actually looks relevant.

What it can actually read.

Everything turns into text first. That's how the model reads it, and that's all that gets cached.

What people actually ask

The Drive questions that usually turn into file digging.

Where is the latest customer deck?

Summarize the contract notes for Acme.

Which files mention the migration plan?

What changed between these project docs?

Find every doc that references SOC 2.

What did we promise this customer last quarter?

Read-only, and only your Drive.

The integration only asks for read access to the Drive account you connect. Nothing in Gmail, Calendar, or Contacts. No write access. No org-wide reach.

The text Chat with Work pulls is encrypted at rest, scoped to your user, and deleted after 30 days if nothing touches it again. Nothing in your account is used to train models.

Full security write-up on the security page.

Disconnect any time.

  • From Chat with Work: Settings → Connected accounts → Disconnect. Tokens are deactivated and cached text is queued for deletion.
  • From Google: revoke at myaccount.google.com/permissions. We detect it on the next call and stop.
